Fun Facts:
What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I play with the OBO Cloud Straight As stick. I love it because it is the perfect weight to give me power when making a stick save but still be comfortable when I’m holding it in my set position. Its shape and length is ideal for when I decide to dive to the far post or do a stick sweep after slide tackling the ball. I truly love this stick and would recommend it to any goalkeeper!
What legguards, kickers and helmet do you use and why did you choose them?
I play with the OBO Robo Hi-Rebound Legguards and the OBO Robo Plus Kickers. I chose the blue and black legguard color combo because blue is my favorite color and it really pops on the pitch. I use these legguards and kickers because they provide me with a large save surface, as well as a far rebound. I especially love the rounded toe on my kickers because it is amazing for punch clears.
For my helmet, I use the OBO PE goalkeeping helmet. I use this helmet because it gives me maximum visibility and is easy to take on and off. It is lightweight, comfortable, and provides durable protection.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing goalkeeper?
I have been playing field hockey for about 4 years (since 6th grade). Early on, a brave coach asked me if I would be willing to try out the position of goalkeeper. It was love at first save! I thrive under pressure and I love the intensity and fast pace of my position. There is no better feeling than making a big save and setting my team up for success.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Yes, I have several pre- game rituals. Some of these include tapping my stick on the ground 3 times while we are in huddle, talking to my defenders in the minutes before the game, and tapping my stick to my glove hand when entering the cage. I also have a lucky jersey for both club and high school and a favorite pair of socks that I like to wear on game day!

Favorite pump-up song(s) to listen to before a game?

Describe your playing style in three words?
I would describe my playing style as proactive/aggressive, communicative, and explosive.
What do you like to do when you’re not playing field hockey?
When I’m not playing field hockey, you can find me baking, reading, running, and hanging out with friends. My favorite thing to bake is my grandmother’s famous chocolate chip cookies, but I love to bake anything and everything! I especially enjoy trying new recipes I find on Pinterest and sharing them with my teammates.
Do you have any game day superstitions?
Some of my game day superstitions are that I have to put on my left kicker first, then
right kicker. After that, I have to put on my left legguard, followed by my right. I also have
a pair of lucky socks and of course a lucky jersey!
What’s your favorite motivational quote?
I have several favorite motivational quotes and mantras that I live and train by. Here are my top 5:
“There is no plan B. I’ll make it happen.”
“Work until you don’t have to introduce yourself.”
“When no one gives you an opportunity, go out and create your own.”
“Somewhere behind the athlete you’ve become and the hours of practice and the
coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and
never looked back…play for her.” -Mia Hamm
“You make your own luck. You make it in training.” -Simone Biles
What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming season?
Something I am looking forward to most in the upcoming season is our goalie training and getting back to turf after the cold winter. I love the fast pace of indoor, but nothing beats the sunny springtime weather and getting to play on turf again. I am especially excited for some of my favorite outdoor tournaments such as Shooting Star Easter, RCC’s/NCC’s, and of course other special events like Nexus.
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
My favorite field hockey memory is the moment after my first high school game. I was a little nervous leading up to this game because I wanted to earn my place on the field. After winning our game 7-1, my teammates all came running up to me and gave me a big hug. The hugs after games became a post-game ritual for us and one of my favorite parts of gameday. I feel as though our post-game huddles truly show our team culture. We really are a big family connected by the sport we love.
What school do you go to?
I go to Independence High School in Ashburn, VA. This season, my school team won districts, regionals, and made it all the way to the state semi-finals. One of my favorite parts about playing at Independence is that every season, we live by two phrases. One is constant and repeats each year. That phrase is “Forever Linked.” I love this phrase because it is so true to our team culture. No matter where we are or where we’re going, we will always be together in spirit and in our hearts. Every team that has played at Independence is linked by our common culture. The second is one that our coaches coin specifically for each season and that year’s team. This past year, our phrase was “#Heart”. They chose this phrase because as a team, we dug deep and played with a lot of passion. We united with heart for each other, for the love of the game, and for ourselves. We learned that when we play with heart, we are truly unstoppable.
