Is your field hockey stick grip starting to wear out? Is it starting to degrade and fall to pieces? Do you feel the vibration stinging your hands more than before? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then it may be time to replace your grip. Did you know that Longstreth offers a service of repair to your stick’s grip? We can replace your worn-out grip with a new one for a small service fee of $5.00 (excludes cost of grip). We can also add an additional layer of grip called “over grip” or “chamois grip” to your stick’s grip for the same small fee of $5.00.
Replacement Field Hockey Grip
Field Hockey grip comes in many different colors, textures, and varying levels of thickness. Our most cushioning grip is the Gryphon Chubby grip. It is our thickest grip we carry. If you would like something that is a medium cushioning of grip, then the Ritual, Osaka, Karakal, TK, and Gryphon cushion grip may be your preference. Our most textured grip is the Grays Twintex grip. It has many different engraved hexagonal shaped designs on the grip that give it a diverse textured feel.
Over Grip/ Chamois Field Hockey Grip
Over grip or chamois grip is intended to go over top of your regular grip. It is not recommended to be the only grip on your stick’s handle as it will not absorb any of the shock from the impact of the ball. We recommend a grip underneath the chamois grip to help buffer the vibration. There are variations of design and color offering amongst the chamois grips. They also vary slightly with thickness. All are great options to keep your hands dry on wet turf and for sweaty hands. It also helps to add another dimension of gripping ability to your stick. Most chamois field hockey grips are non-adhesive and will need to be pulled very tightly to prevent movement on top of the grip.
Lose End Cap
Is your end cap lose? We can fix it! A lose end cap can cause your field hockey grip to unravel. This is typically a quick fix and you’ll be on your way. Depending on the severity of the grip/end cap you may also need to purchase a new grip.
Visit our retail store if you need your stick repaired. This service is offered every day that we are open. There is no appointment necessary, and we can regrip while you wait. The fee for having your field hockey stick regripped is $5 plus the cost of the grip you choose.

Extensive goalie department
At Longstreth we know that your investment in equipment is important. We can easily spend 1 hour with our field hockey goalies if we are fitting them from head to toe. Your investment is also our investment of time for you! Let us personally fit you into each piece of equipment. There is not a “one size fits all” or “one budget fits all” scenario when it comes to goalies. Each goalie comes from a different stage in their career in field hockey and we have equipment that suits each goalie’s needs. Our retail staff can see if the chest protector sits well on the body or suggest something else when it doesn’t. We can tell when the helmet is too loose and then modify it to fit or suggest a smaller size or different style altogether. We can look at how well the girdle will fit with the leg guards. All the pieces of equipment for the goalie must work together to give the best performance and protection. Missing any hardware or have old worn-out pieces that need replacement? We can help refurbish equipment that can get you back out onto the field. Give us a try and make the drive to the store. You’ll be glad you did!
