Field hockey sticks are made of composite materials, such as fiberglass, kevlar, and carbon, which create different sensations based on composition.

The left side of the field hockey stick head is flat, while the other side is rounded. The ball may only be played with the flat stick-side.

Indoor sticks differ from outdoor sticks in terms of weight and thickness. You may not play with an outdoor stick in a regulation indoor field hockey game. Indoor sticks are lighter and have a thinner toe.

Since indoor is played on a faster court surface with different stick skills and shot selections, the velocity, power, and lifted touch elements of outdoor sticks are not necessary characteristics of a good indoor stick. Elements including control and touch separate top-tier indoor sticks.
