Fun Field Hockey Facts
What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I currently have the Grays GR7000 Ultrabow. I really like it for its bow and its touch on the ball. It is somewhat light, but still feels like a solid touch.
Do you have a grip preference? If so, which grip and why do you like it?
I prefer to put a shammy grip on top of whatever the stick comes with. I don’t have a preference on shammies either.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing?
I started playing in 6th grade, but I only really got into it my freshman year. I started playing because I wanted to play another sport with softball (my main sport at the time) and because my mom played when she was younger.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Not really. I try to be anti-superstitious as possible.
What's your go-to pre game meal?
A sandwich. I love a good Italian, but just a sandwich in general is solid.
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
When I do my own hair, because I can’t braid, I go for a high slicked back bun or a slicked ponytail into bubbles. If someone can braid my hair, I usually let them pick or do something fun. I love Dutch braids, French braids, and dragon braids but if they want to do something different, I am totally for it!
Favorite pump-up song(s) to listen to before a game?
Rap as a whole
Describe your playing style in three words?
Aggressive, strong, simple
What do you like to do when you are not playing field hockey?
I LOVE going to the beach, specifically to body surf. I love thrifting, sleeping, and doing anything with my friends. I love to workout and go on runs.
Do you have any game day superstitions?
Nope, at least I try not to. Sometimes I get caught thinking about it and then I realize that it’s probably not helping me compete or play better. I used to be super superstitious and now it's a hassle. I try to focus on the present and what I can do in the moment.
What is your favorite motivational quote?
“You can’t cross the sea by merely standing and staring at the water” - Rabindranath Tagore
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Trust in your ability, trust the process, and trust the people you surround yourself with. Don’t be too hard on yourself and learn from your mistakes.
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
My favorite field hockey memory was this summer when my team and I won our RCC’s 1-0 and were able to go to NCC’s. Also at NCC’s we did much better than the two previous years and we all had an amazing time.
