Meet Phia Gladieux (although you probably already know who she is)! Phia is from Oley, PA and grew up playing field hockey for Oley Valley and XCalibur. She now plays as a captain at Penn State University where she is majoring in Childhood Education. Phia has a long list of accolades in her career, her most recent was being named to the 2024 Olympic Team.
Phia is renowned for her TK Black Elephants stick and pink grip. “I play with the TK Black Elephants stick because I love how light it feels and it is a high carbon stick so it has that ‘pop’ feeling when I am taking shots on goal.”

Any game day superstitions?
For any field hockey season I usually like to try and find a certain hairstyle I like and I’ll stick with that throughout the season
Go-to hairstyle?
I like to braid two pieces and pull it back in a pony tail so I don’t have any little pieces in my face.
Any advice for the younger athletes watching you?
Finding balance between working hard and having fun. When you don’t enjoy what you’re doing and get burnt out, it tends to not make the sport fun anymore. Find ways to remind yourself why you love field hockey and what makes you happy.
