Leah Secondo - The Voice Behind College Hockey

You most likely will recognize her voice if you don’t immediately recognize her name. Leah Secondo is renowned in the field hockey world as the “voice behind college hockey.” This fall marks her 40th year in the business. Leah is the lead announcer on ESPN/ACC Networks Collegiate Women's Field Hockey coverage and has been a part of the NCAA Hockey coverage spanning back three decades. If that doesn’t give her the credibility she deserves, take a look at some of Leah’s other stats below!

We’ve teamed up with Leah to create a new series launching this week called The Longstreth Sports Post Game Show with Leah Secondo. The show stars Leah and a few special guests, including college coaches and players who will be breaking down each of the USA Field Hockey Olympic Matches. Facts About Leah:
Leah Secondo is the 2018 President's Award recipient by the CT Sportswriters Alliance. The award is given in her home state for pioneering in women's sports & broadcasting. She is a four-time Hall of Famer and part of the 1996 inaugural class of the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame as well as the Class of 1997 New Agenda Northeast Women's Hall of Fame. In 2009, Leah joined a distinguished group in the Connecticut Field Hockey Hall of Fame. In 1998, Leah was the first female recipient of the Enrico Fermi HS Distinguished Alumni Award.

Leah played field hockey, basketball, and softball at Fermi. She was All-League in field hockey and softball for three consecutive years. Leah also played ice hockey at the elite women's level for 15 years. In 2018, her Enfield Eagles Hockey Team was inducted into her hometown Hall of Fame.

Success has followed Leah in the coaching ranks. In 1994 and 1995, she was an assistant softball coach at the University of New Haven, where the Chargers reached the regional finals. She has also helped coach high school girls' ice hockey and softball. An avid golfer, Leah enjoys spending her free time on the course. She has achieved an incredible feat by twice recording a hole-in-one.

Upon graduating from Southern Connecticut State University in 1984, Leah began her broadcast career as a Sports Reporter/Anchor with WGGB-TV 40 in Springfield, MA. Thus, being the first female sportscaster hired at any Western Mass. television station. In 1990, Leah again broke ground in the broadcast industry, being named Connecticut's first female sportscaster by taking a position with WTNH-TV 8 in New Haven, CT.

2024 marks Leah's 40th year in the broadcast industry. Her background is extensive, diverse, and groundbreaking. In 2007, Leah received the Florida Associated Press Award, Large TV Market Division, Best Sportscast Program for "Football Friday Night." She is involved in freelance ventures with a variety of regional sports networks, conferences, and live video streaming companies. Leah handles the Play-by-Play, Analyst, or Show Host duties.

Leah is an award-winning Florida Real Estate Specialist with Michael Saunders & Company, recognized for sales excellence each of the last 25 years and a 16-time "5-Star Best Real Estate Agent in Client Satisfaction" winner.

Leah is involved in philanthropic work as a Co-Founder of "Bailey's Buddies," a 501c3 Foundation. In memory of her dog Bailey, the mission is to assist financially challenged canine cancer families.
