Get To Know The Goalie
What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I’ll be playing with the Robo Shootout! I prefer super light/long sticks that allow me to move quickly, and to get as much coverage as possible.
What leg guards, kickers and helmet do you use and why did you choose them?
I will be using the Robo+ Leg guards and kickers this season, and I am so excited to be using the newest and best field hockey technology. I also use the Carbon helmet because it is the strongest/most protective and keeps me safe against some of the best shooters in the country!
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing goalkeeper?
I only started field hockey about a year before high school, since I knew I wanted that to be my fall sport. My sister was also a goalkeeper, and my cousin had started playing in college, so I wanted to join the sport after seeing the great opportunities they had! I have quite a few!
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I have quite a few! I must eat and drink specific things, stretch and roll out while listening to music, go for a short walk, throw a lacrosse ball at the wall, and text or call my parents/grandmother!
What’s your go-to pre-game meal?
Iced green tea and a gluten free breakfast sandwich is my ideal!
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
Usually, it is two bubble buns on top of each other (think Rey from Star Wars, but only two), but it doesn’t fit under the helmet so that only lasts through warm-up!
Favorite pump-up song(s) to listen to before a game?
The pre-game playlist changes quite a bit, but it is usually any really upbeat/EDM music works!
Describe your playing style in three words?
I am pretty aggressive, impulsive, and a little bit untraditional!
What do you like to do when you’re not playing field hockey?
I absolutely love to cook, and I also enjoy being active in campus groups like SAAC, as well as volunteering and advocating for causes important to me!
Do you have any game day superstitions?
I have a bunch! I think a lot of them are going to change this year, since I have a new field, facility, and team, but one is definitely a certain pattern I tap my pads in right before the first whistle.
What’s your favorite motivational quote?
I am not sure if it is motivational - but I really like “I come in peace, but I mean business.” I think that following that mindset has allowed me to be a good teammate, while also taking my sport seriously!
What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming season?
I am a grad transfer, so I am excited to experience a new team, and to learn to play with them, and I am also looking forward to playing Big Ten hockey for the first time! It is such a fun and competitive league!
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
There are a few saves or games I could think of but honestly, most of my best memories in field hockey are times in the airport, at team meals, coaching camps, or sitting on the bus — really any time I get to spend with people I love. Winning is cool, but we all play a team sport for a reason, and we are so lucky to have such a fantastic community in the sport of field hockey!
What school do you go to?
I just graduated from Holy Cross, and I am just starting at Indiana University. Both are such great institutions, and I am so lucky I have this Covid 5th year to be able to experience both!
