Get To Know The Goalies
What legguards, kickers, and helmet do you use and what made you choose them?
I use the red mini Robo Hi-Control kickers and leg guards. I choose them because I love how they help me control my clears out of the circle and they don't restrict my mobility on the ground. I use the OBO Carbon Helmet because it gives a controlled rebound when I make a save with my head and I feel it gives me the most protection from head injuries.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing goalkeeper?
I have been a field hockey goalie for 8 years. I started being a goalie when my older sister was at her first U12 NITs at Spooky Nook. Her team didn't have a goalie. During one of the games, she volunteered to be one. It made me want to try it to see what it was like because she did. I have loved it ever since, and I knew it was the position for me. My sister is now a forward, and I am a goalie.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I always make sure my hoc socks are pulled up as high as they can before every game. Also, before I get my goalie gear on, my shoes have to be triple knotted.
What's your go to pre-game meal?
My pre-game meal is more of a snack than a big meal. I eat a pack of Welch's fruit snacks, drink a gatorade electrolyte packet, and a banana.
I also sometimes eat a bagel with avocado depending on what time the game is.
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
My go to hairstyle is a slick back low ponytail with a braid, and I always use the same hair ties.
What is your favorite pump-up song(s) to listen to before a game?
My pump-up pre-game songs are RockStar and Best of Both Worlds by Hannah Montana.
Describe your playing style in three words.
I describe my playing style as dynamic, aggressive, and agile
What do you like to do when you're not playing field hockey?
When I am not playing field hockey, I love to hang out with my friends, shop, facetime my field hockey friends that live in different states, and do puzzles like the NY Times Puzzles.
Do you have any game day superstitions?
I always wear the same red and black or pink and black hair ties for every game.
What's your favorite motivational quote?
1 percent better every day.
This quote is important to me because when I do little things everyday, it all adds up to accomplish my goals.
What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming season?
The upcoming season is with my high school team, Trinity Episcopal School. I am looking forward to all of the traditions that we have as a team, and working together toward our goal. Our team is a family, and we spend a lot of time together on and off the field. We trust and count on each other. So, I am really looking forward to playing together and continuing to make more memories.
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
One of my favorite field hockey club memories is qualifying for NCCs in the last two minutes of the game after a 3 hour lightning delay. We waited a long time to come back to the turf to play, and we all had to push through to be ready to play.
What school do you go to?
Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia
