The winner of the Ohio State Championship was Thomas Worthington High School, and the runner-up was Shaker Heights High School. This is Thomas Worthington’s third title in a row, and the team most certainly demonstrated their dominance with a 5-0 win.
Junior forward Sophia Borghese, who scored the overtime game-winner in each of Thomas Worthington’s last two finals appearances, scored the first goal just 90 seconds into the competition on November 2. Rowan Casey scored two goals and Meredith Estepp and Jaidyn Gussler tallied one apiece as Shaker Heights was held to one shot the whole game.
This win was Thomas’s 9th State Championship in program history, only second in this statistic to Columbus Academy, but with momentum from a dominant past few years in Ohio postseason play.
