We are so excited to announce that Amelia Blood has been named this week’s Player of the Week! Amelia is a senior out of Uxbridge, Massachusetts. She also plays for North East Elite and was a member of the Junior National Team in 2024.

Amelia has been playing field hockey for nearly her entire life. Her mom played field hockey all through high school and into college, so naturally, when the opportunity to sign up for a clinic in Kindergarten came around, Amelia was ready to go. She fell in love with the sport immediately and has not put down her stick since.

Amelia’s commitment to field hockey has made a big impact on her high school team. Over her career at Uxbridge, Amelia has scored 70 goals and notched 98 assists. Despite her success, Amelia’s advice to younger players is to always live in the moment. She says, “Don’t take anything for granted. Every practice, every game, every time you step on the field is a chance to grow.” This mentality is something Amelia not only applies to her own game but also tries to instill in her teammates.

As a captain at Uxbridge High School, Amelia has already demonstrated outstanding leadership skills. Currently, the Uxbridge Spartans are 14-0. This includes a recent 6-1 win over Walpole High School, the reigning Division 1 State Champions. Through their “live in the moment” mentality, Amelia and her team can stay positive on and off the field and always give their full effort.

This year, the Spartans are hunting for an unprecedented fifth straight Division 3 State Title. Amelia has been part of all four previous state championship teams and has been a major contributor each year. This time around, Amelia and the other Uxbridge seniors are pushing extra hard so that they can end their high school careers the same way they started them: as champions. With Amelia at the helm of this squad, there is no doubt that Uxbridge will continue to be a force in Massachusetts and beyond. They are coming for the state title, and they are more than willing to do the work to earn it.
