New Jersey’s Oak Knoll, ranked #15 in the nation, takes on Emmaus, ranked #11 in the nation, on September 14 at 10am. This is a repeat of an intense 2023 Top 15 matchup, resulting in a 2-1 win for Oak Knoll.
A bit about Emmaus: Emmaus, led by Coach Sue Butz-Stavin (the all-time winningest coach in NFHS history, with over 1000 wins!), has won 41 conference championships, including a streak of consecutive championships since 2015. They have also won 35 straight District 11 Class 3A titles and have reached the PIAA quarterfinals every year since 2001. The Green Hornets are 6-0 to start the year, outscoring opponents 60-0 on goals by 10 different goal scorers. Although they have just two seniors this year, after graduating a class of 11 from their 2023 season, they are still “the team to beat” as we get rolling with the 2024 season!
A bit about Oak Knoll: Oak Knoll, coached by Ali Good, comes off of a successful 2023 season, winning both the County and Sectional Championships, and making it to the State Finals, finishing as the Non-Public State Finalist. In total, Oak Knoll boasts 11 State/Group Championships since 2006, 27 County Championships since 1990, and 16 Sectional Championships since 2006. Oak Knoll is 2-0 to start the year, outscoring opponents 9-0 with 5 different goal scorers. Sophomore Lilly Venezia (Max Top 100 Players to Watch) is off to a strong start with 3 goals and 2 assists in opening play.
