Meet one of two of our first-ever correspondents in the Longstreth National Correspondents Program! This program aims to cover some of the top field hockey games across the country by athletes who live, eat, and sleep field hockey. Say hello to Ellie Schneider!
“My name is Ellie Schneider, and I am a senior at Salisbury High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I am a 2-year captain of the Falcons field hockey team, which is the reigning 2A district champion. In my junior year, I verbally committed to play field hockey for Kutztown University. They are currently ranked as the #1 Division II field hockey program. I made the choice to enroll in Kutztown's Early College Academy my senior year to get a jump start on classes. I am thrilled to join the Golden Bears next year to play field hockey at a highly competitive level and major in Business/Marketing.
I am excited to join the Longstreth x Max Field Hockey National Correspondent team. Field hockey is a growing sport in the U.S., and Longstreth has supported its growth for years. I'm excited to have this opportunity to tell the stories of other female athletes. Coming from a family of strong male athletes, I have always been motivated to inspire young female athletes, whether that means volunteering at club practices, guiding teammates and younger female family members through the college recruiting process, or now working alongside such successful field hockey advocates.
Pennsylvania is undeniably the powerhouse of field hockey, producing more U.S. Women’s National Team players than any other state (13 out of 33 rostered athletes). It is home to WC Eagles (ranked #1 nationally in U-16 and #2 in U-19), and right down the road from where I live stands Sue Butz-Stavin, recognized as the winningest high school field hockey coach in U.S. history. I am fortunate to play in such an intensely competitive environment and watch high-level field hockey. Last year I was a part of the first Salisbury field hockey team to win a district championship and make an appearance in state playoffs. This underdog story is one of many that I look forward to highlighting.”
