Meet one of two of our first-ever correspondents in the Longstreth National Correspondents Program! This program aims to cover some of the top field hockey games across the country by athletes who live, eat, and sleep field hockey. Say hello to Ella Christian!

“My name is Ella Christian, and I am from Boston, Massachusetts. I am a senior at Newton Country Day School, where I play on the varsity team. I also play club for Wizards and am committed to play field hockey at Connecticut College next year. I am incredibly excited to join the Longstreth Sports Correspondence Program and combine my passion for field hockey with my love of writing. I hope to create content that field hockey players find interesting and relatable, while also helping bring more attention to the sport that has given me so much.

A few years ago, after my high school team won a game on our trusty grass field, I sprinted across the street to Boston College to watch Duke win in double overtime. I love engaging with my sport outside of simply playing it, and witnessing a thrilling moment like that is one of the reasons why.

I am excited to have the opportunity to capture that same energy and excitement in my writing. I look forward to covering games ranging from major matchups to unexpected upset wins across all divisions of collegiate field hockey. I also hope to highlight standout players, share personal anecdotes, and explore field hockey's growth throughout the Northeast.

Outside of field hockey, I love listening to music, getting froyo with my friends, spending time with my siblings, and taking my dog for walks. I am excited to bring my perspective as both a player and a fan to Longstreth and share stories that celebrate the sport I love.”
