Now that we’re almost halfway through the fall field hockey season, it’s time for a little self-reflection. Your game has grown since the start of the season… has your stick? Here are a few important questions to ask yourself to see whether it’s a good time to upgrade your stick.

How’s Your Ball Control?

Ask yourself:

  1. Are you able to make quick adjustments in high-pressure situations?
  2. Do you feel confident receiving passes at game speed?

Let’s Talk Performance

Ask yourself:

  1. Has your game gotten significantly stronger compared to the start of preseason?
  2. Are you putting in the effort, but still feeling as though you aren’t getting enough out of your stick in return?

Think About Precision

Ask yourself:

  1. Am I making precise and clear passes down the field?
  2. Are you looking for a better balance between power and touch?

Is Your Game Becoming Dynamic?

Ask yourself:

  1. Does your current bow shape complement your developing skills?
  2. Could I use more control and precision when drag flicking?
