We are THRILLED to welcome Keira Emick into the Longstreth Athlete Program as the newest OBO Ambassador!
Keira is from Long Branch, New Jersey and has been a goalkeeper for 5 years because she loves the challenge and responsibility of the position.
Fun Facts:
What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I use the OBO Robo Fatboy Composite Goalkeeping Stick, and I choose it because it’s a thicker stick that gives me more coverage and allows me to make powerful saves.
What legguards, kickers and helmet do you use and why did you choose them?
For legguards, I use the OBO Robo Plus Legguards. I chose them because they are the widest pads OBO offers, and I like to take up as much space in the goal as possible. As a goalkeeper, I don’t like to feel restricted, so the pads being thin and lightweight is very beneficial. For kickers, I use the OBO Robo Plus Kickers. I use these kickers because they have great coverage and ball contact. For my helmet, I use the OBO FG Helmet. It is super lightweight, and I have a clear view of the field.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing goalkeeper?
I have been playing field hockey since 6th grade, which was about 5 years ago. What made me first want to start playing goalkeeper was that nobody on my team wanted to be the goalkeeper, so I decided to step up and try it. I knew instantly that it would be my position; I liked the challenge and the responsibility. Over time, I grew more confident and started to really find pride in being the one my team could rely on.

When I’m not playing field hockey, I enjoy going to the gym and walking on the boardwalk.
