We are so excited to welcome Maci Bradford into the Longstreth Athlete Program!

Maci is a sophomore at the University of Maryland and has been playing field hockey for 15 years! She is a current member of the U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team and was named to the 2024 NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Second Team. 

Fun Field Hockey Facts:

What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I use the Black Elephant! I chose the black elephant because I love how light it is and the smooth touch it has. It has power but is also good for fast stick skills and soft hands. The bow is also perfect for 3D skills, which I use a lot! Finally, I love the all black look!

Do you have a grip preference? If so, which grip and why do you like it?
I use any kind of chammy, I like soft smooth grips so my hands can slide smoothly along the stick. 

How long have you been playing field hockey, and what made you first want to start playing?
I have been playing field since I was 4 years old, so 15 years! My family is a hockey family! My grandmother, mom, and aunt all played, and all loved the game so much and as soon as I touched a stick I fell in love!

Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I usually get to the locker room early and just hang out with my teammates and listen to music!

What's your go-to pre-game meal?
I love breakfast! So French toast, eggs, and fruit 

What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
Slick back high bun!

Favorite pump-up song(s) to listen to before a game?
Halftime 

Describe your playing style in three words?
Gritty, unpredictable, and smooth 

What do you like to do when you are not playing field hockey?
Go to the beach, hangout with friends and family, relax and watch movies

Do you have any game day superstitions?
I always wear the same Maryland flag hocsoxs!

What is your favorite motivational quote?
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen” – Michael Jordan 

If you could give your younger self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Be confident, and don’t let anything or anyone stop you from achieving YOUR goals!

What is your favorite field hockey memory?
Either playing for the USA this past year for the u21 team in the junior pan ams and qualifying for the world cup or playing in the Maryland jersey for the first time and scoring my first collegiate goal!
