We’re excited to officially welcome Carly Hynd to the Longstreth Athlete Program as our newest TK Brand Ambassador!

From Paoli, Pennsylvania, Carly is a graduate student at Saint Joseph’s University. Before her time as a hawk, she spent four standout seasons with the University of Maryland, helping the Terps to back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2021 and 2022. This past summer, she also competed in the Senior Nexus Championship in Virginia Beach.

Do you have a grip preference? If so, which grip and why do you like it?
I like to use a chamois grip. I think it gives me the best control, especially when it is raining or wet.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing?
I started playing when I was six years old. My parents put me in a recreational league and it just stuck!
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I have a bottle that I always drink out of every game day.
What's your go-to pre-game meal?
In college we are given pregame meals now, but in high school, I used to love getting IHOP pancakes the morning of a game.
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
I love having two braids on the top of my hair and a ponytail

Describe your playing style in three words?
Relentless, hard-working, calm
What do you like to do when you are not playing field hockey?
I like to try new food, hang out with family & friends, go to antique stores, and watch tv/movies
Do you have any game day superstitions?
I wear the same pattern hoc socks for every game (the red, white, and blue tie dye pairs)

If you could give your younger self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Its not going to be easy all the time, but trust the process and believe in yourself and your abilities/strengths
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
Winning in the elite 8 in shootouts to go to the 2022 final four, my sophomore year
