We are thrilled to welcome Addie Martin into the Longstreth Athlete Program as the newest Grays Ambassador! Addie is from Lititz, PA, and has been playing field hockey all her life. She is a Max Field Hockey Top 100 of the Class of 2029 athlete and, more recently, made the U.S. Women’s U16 Team!
Fun Facts:
What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I chose a Grays stick because it allows me to be the best at every skill that I want to do; it has the perfect amount of carbon so that it has a strong hit but not that rigid. It also is great because it isn’t for one position, so I can go from the backfield to the mid and be able to have both sets of skills with one stick.
Do you have a grip preference? If so, which grip and why do you like it?
I like to have a thin grip so I can move my hands very easily around when playing
How long have you been playing field hockey, and what made you first want to start playing?
I started when I was in kindergarten, and I started because there was a youth camp at my high school, so my parents thought it would be a good idea to try it out, and I kept playing and fell in love with it.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Laughing and having fun with my teammates before we start warm-ups, loosening up before it is time to focus.
What's your go-to pre-game meal?
Something with peanut butter.
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
Some sort of braids, normally two braids into a ponytail.
Describe your playing style in three words?
Aggressive, Strategic, Simple
What do you like to do when you are not playing field hockey?
I like to swim, play piano, and hang out with friends.
What is your favorite motivational quote?
‘’Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice, what would it be?
My piece of advice would be to just keep doing what you're doing, working hard, and make sure to have fun along the way. Also, there are going to be times when it's going to be hard, and those are the moments that you just have to keep working, and you will get through them.
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
My favorite hockey memory was when we won the entire Disney Showcase in the u14 division. Another great memory was when I was able to go to England to compete with some incredible girls to represent the USA.
