And now, a preview of the season!
New Jersey
The story of New Jersey high school field hockey is one of fierce rivalries and storied matchups. Camden Catholic and Oak Knoll sit at the top and are expected to battle all season long, likely meeting again in November for another state title clash. Other teams to watch include returning champions West Essex, Kingsway, Shore, and Clearview.
Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has long been a hotbed for high school field hockey, and the 2025 season may be one of the most exciting yet. The Hill School in Pottstown remains the most formidable team in the nation, but they’ll face challenges from programs such as Academy of Notre Dame de Namur and Villa Maria.
West / Midwest
In Texas, Saint John’s School and The Kinkaid School, both in Houston, headline the region. The two rivals will face off on September 11 and again on October 9, competing for bragging rights as the top team in the state. Further north, New Trier High School (IL), John Burroughs School (MO), and Pioneer High School (MI) lead their respective states.
New England (ME, MA, VT, NH)
Phillips Academy Andover returns as the region’s top contender, but Uxbridge High School is close behind, led by standout seniors Amelia Blood and Kendall Gilmore. Other programs to watch include Rice Memorial High School in Vermont and Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine.
Northeast (CT, RI, NY)
Staples High School (Westport, CT) headlines the region, though they’ll have to adjust after graduating two-time All-American Sofia Fidalgo Schioppa. Top challengers include Darien High School, Greenwich Academy, and Taft School. In New York, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School sets the standard, while Moses Brown School leads the way in Rhode Island.
Mid-Atlantic (VA, NC, MD, DE)
In Virginia, Trinity Episcopal School enters the season as the team to beat, though local rival Collegiate School is poised to challenge. Collegiate returns standout forward Alexandra Curtis, a member of the Junior Indoor National Team, along with a strong supporting cast of underclassmen. In North Carolina, Cary Christian School looks to continue its dominance. Maryland’s top battle will be between Bryn Mawr School and Archbishop Spalding High School. Finally, don’t overlook Smyrna High School in Delaware. Led by senior Bree Moffett, a top-10 national recruit, the Eagles are a serious threat.
