Episode 8 of Turf Talk is back as we continue to talk about all thing’s college field hockey. We are more than halfway through the regular season, getting ready for the conference post-season matches and the NCAA’s being right around the corner. Host Leah Secondo is joined by two special guests today to discuss DII and DI field hockey, as well as what the coaches look for when recruiting new players to their teams.
Leah is first joined by Head Coach of Shippensburg University, Tara Zollinger. Ship is currently #1 in the DII conference; coach talks a little bit about what that’s been like for her team and how they are continuing to grow in the season. Tara is in her eighth season as a head coach, she has guided the team to a 99-23 overall record in her six seasons, including a 50-8 mark in regular-season conference matches.
Head Coach of Princeton Field Hockey, Carla Tagliente to discuss her team’s current standings and winning the Ivy League Championship. Carla is in her ninth season as head coach. Her time at Princeton has included one NCAA championship game, three NCAA Final Fours and five NCAA tournaments.
Our featured play of the week is a goal by Katie Grant on the U.S. Women’s Masters Team who just competed in the World Masters Tournament in South Africa.
