This week, we continue to feature 2025 state champions from across the country. Congratulations to all of these teams on their outstanding achievements!

Ohio

In Ohio, Thomas Worthington made history by capturing their fourth consecutive OHSAA championship. On November 1, Thomas faced off against a talented Upper Arlington team. There was significant pressure on Thomas to complete the four-peat, but once they stepped onto the field, their focus shifted solely to the match ahead.

Senior and Miami University commit Sophia Borghese was the spark behind Thomas’ success. She scored the opening goal in the first half, which ended in a 1–1 tie. Thomas came out of the break on an offensive mission, netting two unanswered goals to close out the game 3–1. While Thomas ultimately pulled away with the victory, head coach Simonetti Frost noted, “This was by far the hardest state championship I’ve ever won,” a testament to Upper Arlington’s hard work and talent.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire has three divisions of field hockey — and three incredibly talented teams that claimed each division’s crown. Congratulations to Division 1 Champions, Bedford High School; Division 2 Champions, Souhegan High School; and Division 3 Champions, Saint Thomas Aquinas High School.

Bedford and Souhegan each earned 2–1 victories, while Saint Thomas Aquinas shut out Mascenic High School 4–0. Bedford finished with the best record of the three champions, ending the season with 17 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie.

Illinois

It was a thriller in Illinois as New Trier High School took down Glenbrook North in overtime to win the state championship. Earlier in the season, New Trier had fallen to Glenbrook North 2–1 on a game-winning penalty stroke by Ella Beach. This time, the matchup was just as tight, with New Trier trailing by one going into the fourth quarter.

In the final minutes, Eloise Breen scored to tie the game at 2–2 and force overtime. At the end of the first overtime period, New Trier mounted an offensive surge and converted a series of strong passes down the field into the game-winning goal. Final score: New Trier 3, Glenbrook North 2.

Vermont

Vermont also has three divisions, each with its own state champion. In Division 1, Rice Memorial High School completed an undefeated season with a 4–2 victory over Champlain
Valley. In Division 2, Bellows Falls Union High School earned a dominant 4–1 win in the final, finishing with a record of 14–2–1. Finally, Division 3 Champions, Montpelier High School, beat Woodstock 2–1, capping their undefeated season at 15–0.
