The 2025 Max Field Hockey/Longstreth Invitational was packed with talent, energy, and some of the most competitive field hockey we have seen so far this season. There were several key matchups worth noting this weekend. #14 New Trier (IL) pulled out a 3-2 win against #4 The Hill School (PA). Another marquee matchup was #10 Camden Catholic (NJ) vs. #2 Villa Maria (PA). Camden Catholic has been dominant in past Invitationals, but this time it was Villa Maria who came out on top, reminding everyone just how talented their roster is. Our first-time participants at the Invitational, John Burroughs School (MO) and Smyrna (DE), had a great experience, with both teams securing at least one win. With so many nationally ranked teams and programs testing themselves against the best, this year’s Invitational truly lived up to expectations. From powerhouse wins to historic debuts, it is only just the beginning of what is shaping up to be an unforgettable season.
My team, the Academy of Notre Dame, faced two strong opponents over the weekend, and both games proved to be important tests for us. On Friday, we matched up against The Kinkaid School (TX) in what was expected to be a high-intensity game. We came away with a 9–2 win, which was a huge confidence boost for us. On Saturday, we faced Christian Academy of Louisville (KY) and emerged victorious with a 5–1 win. Overall, I think that in both our games, we showed the strength and depth of our lineup, as well as a strong connection throughout our play.
Reflecting back on the Invitational this weekend made me realize that as the season continues, I keep coming to the conclusion that there is a last time for everything. For me, this weekend was my last time playing in the Invitational. A bittersweet realization, as this event has been such a joy to experience. This weekend reminded me how much I have grown not only as a player, but also as a teammate and leader. The Invitational has taught me that resilience is built in the small moments like adapting to any opponent or finding ways to rise to the occasion no matter the circumstance. That’s a wrap on the 2025 Max Field Hockey/Longstreth Invitational, until next year!
