Last week’s previewed game result:
Hill School v Kinkaid
The Hill School, ranked #1 in the nation, took on The Kinkaid School under the lights at the Max Field Hockey High School National Invitational on Friday, September 20. Kinkaid, previously ranked#2, had been moved to #5 nationally prior to the match. The team here at Longstreth was lucky enough to get to watch the game in person, and witnessed an intense competition as Hill battled to a 2-0 win over Kinkaid. The first goal for Hill was scored by Longstreth / Ritual Ambassador and UVA commit Riley Savage, on a great deflection as a ball from Ella Kaplan (Cornell commit) came across the goal. The second goal was sent home by sophomore Sofia Ferri, assisted by fellow sophomore Abby Gerdeman. Earning a shutout for The Hill School was Tane King in goal. For Kinkaid, Merritt Skubisz, UNC committed goalkeeper, had some great saves in this intense matchup!
We had a chance to catch up with Riley Savage (Hill) after the game. Riley loved being able to play against another UVA commit, Caroline Raynes, and a USA teammate, Merritt Skubisz. Riley also said, “The team was super competitive and it was fun getting to play [them]. They were really fast and knew the game well which made our team think and make quicker decisions. It was also just fun getting to play a team from far away! We all have different playing styles so it’s nice to get to play a team with a different playing style than us”.
This event provides a unique opportunity for teams from all over to play against (and learn from!) each other, and Longstreth loved being a part of it and witnessing so many great match ups!

Preview of Next Week’s Featured Game
9/26 #9 (WMW) Chelsea (MI) vs #15 (WMW) Dexter (MI)
A little bit about Dexter: Dexter, former high school of 2024 Olympian Abby Tamer, boasts five state titles since 2014, with the most recent being a Division II title in the 2023 season.
A little bit about Chelsea: Chelsea has started the year strong, boasting a win earlier this month over defending Division 1 state champs, Ann Arbor Pioneer. They are 9-2-1 on the season heading into this rematch.
Chelsea and Dexter are ranked #9 and #15, respectively, in the West/ Mid West Rankings. The two have already met up this year in late August, ending in a 2-2 draw, and again this month, which ended in a 5-2 Dexter victory. That tied game was the first rematch of the 2023 State Final game, when Dexter took down Chelsea 3-0 for the title. These long-time rivals match up again on 9/26 and we can’t wait to report back how the game turns out!
