The Week 9 Longstreth Player of the Week is Violet Clough! Violet plays for Rice Memorial High School in Vermont, a team that just finished their field hockey season 16-0-1 and #8 in the MAX Field Hockey New England Region Rankings.

The Rice Memorial field hockey team beat South Burlington 1-0 in the State Final, with the game-winner from none other than Violet Clough. In fact, last year, South Burlington came out on top in the same game with a 2-1 overtime score, the Rice goal courtesy of Clough, but that did not happen this year, largely due to the talent of the sophomore midfielder.

Violet is one of the Top 100 Players to Watch for the Class of 2027 across the entire United States. This past summer, she was named the MVP of the 2027 Under Armor Game, as well. She earned First Team All-State Honors as a freshman last year, and after her performance in the 2024 campaign, is widely regarded as the best player in the entire state of Vermont. In fact, she was the only freshman named to the 2023 MAX Field Hockey All-New England Region Team, Burlington Free Press “10 standout scorers of the 2023 season,” Vermont Metro Division Coaches’ First Team, and Burlington Free Press All-State First Team.

Outside of high school, Violet is involved in USA Field Hockey, having participated in the Nexus Championships for the past two years. She plays club field hockey for Green Mountain Girls FHC and is paving the way for the development of high school field hockey across all of New England.
