Out of Winnetka, Illinois, Kayla Chudgar is the Longstreth Field Hockey High School Player of the Week! She is a sophomore forward who has been an integral part of New Trier High School’s field hockey team’s recent success. On October 7, she had two goals against Glenbrook, ranked #15 in the West/Midwest Region by MAX Field Hockey, in a 3-0 win. She also scored twice, one being an OT game-winner, against Lake Forest High School, with a #19 regional ranking. These three teams are the top in Illinois. In fact, New Trier is currently #3 in the West/Midwest Region and #19 in the United States with a record of 18-1-1overall and 6-0 in their conference.
Their final regular season game was played yesterday against Oak Park-River Forest. Kayla is second on her team in both points and goals, with 31 total points and 15 goals through 20 games of play, just in her second year. This breakout season has paid dividends for both Kayla and her teammates. Last year, the New Trier field hockey team finished in second place in the IL State Championship, and they are hoping to do one better this year as playoffs begin.
