Longstreth Field Hockey is excited to feature another record-setter this week as the Player of the Week. Congratulations to Brinkley Eyre!

Brinkley is a senior captain at Glenelg High School in Glenelg, Maryland, where she plays Attacking Midfield. She has been a Varsity starter at Glenelg for four years, having played an impactful role in their three consecutive Maryland 2A State Championships.

Brinkley is a player with an outstanding field IQ and work ethic in addition to raw talent when it comes to goal scoring. She has scored elite-level goals this year, several of which have been so great as to be featured on Longstreth’s High School Highlight Reel for the weekly top plays. In fact, she broke the Glenelg High School record for total goals in one season. This record was previously held by Alyssa Parker at 38 single-season goals, who went on to become a star at the University of Maryland, NFHCA All-American, and U.S. National Team Member following her high school career. Like Parker, Brinkley has plans to continue to play field hockey at the collegiate level at Maryland. Beyond that, in her recent playoff game, Brinkley broke the Howard County single-season scoring record, which previously stood at 50 goals. Brinkley is now at 53 goals in the 2024 campaign and counting, with postseason play remaining. It is no surprise that Eyre leads her team in points. Two weeks ago, Brinkley contributed to over 50% of her team’s goals, tallying 12 goals and 5 assists.

Brinkley is an incredible leader and role model to her teammates, on and off the field. Not only has she led the Glenelg Gladiators to a County Championship thus far in the season, but she is a Fellowship of Christian Athlete, using bible verses to promote “teamwork, sportsmanship, and unity” before the team’s every game. Her leadership and experience will be essential in the coming days for Glenelg in their hopes to do what has never been done before and bring home a fourth consecutive State Championship.
