Ange Bradley- USWNT U21 Head Coach

Ange Bradley Named Head Coach of U.S. U-21 Women’s National Field Hockey Team: A Legacy of Leadership and Excellence

USA Field Hockey has taken a significant step forward in its youth development program by appointing Ange Bradley as the head coach of the U.S. Under-21 Women’s National Team. With a coaching career that spans decades and includes national titles, conference championships, and a deep commitment to coach education, Bradley brings unmatched experience and vision to the role.

A Proven Winner on Every Level

Bradley’s coaching résumé is a testament to sustained excellence. From 2007 to 2022, she led Syracuse University to national prominence, capturing an NCAA Championship and guiding the Orange to four NCAA Semifinal appearances. Her tenure at Syracuse was marked by a culture of discipline, innovation, and high performance.

Before Syracuse, Bradley made her mark at the University of Richmond, where she served as head coach from 2000 to 2006. Under her leadership, Richmond won five consecutive Atlantic 10 (A10) titles, and she was twice named A10 Coach of the Year. Her earlier roles included assistant coaching positions at the University of Iowa and the University of Maryland, where she was part of a national championship-winning staff.

Deep Roots in Coach Education

Bradley is more than just a successful coach—she’s a mentor and educator. A certified Level 3 USA Field Hockey Coach, she also serves as an instructor for all three levels of coach education. Her influence extends beyond the field, having spoken at major USA Field Hockey events such as the 2023 National Coaches Forum and the 2024 Tactical Edge Workshop.

Her appointment to the U-16 USWNT coaching staff in 2023 was a natural progression in her journey with USA Field Hockey. Now, as head coach of the U-21 team, she is poised to shape the next generation of elite American players.

A Vision for the Future

Bradley’s leadership comes at a crucial time. The U-21 USWNT is preparing for major international competitions, including the Junior Pan American Games and the Junior World Cup. With no U.S. U-21 team having ever medaled at the Junior World Cup, Bradley’s mission is clear: build a team that can compete—and win—on the global stage.

Her approach emphasizes not only technical and tactical excellence but also mental resilience, leadership, and a strong team culture. “We’re not just developing players,” Bradley has said in past interviews, “we’re developing future leaders of the sport.”

Final Thoughts

Ange Bradley’s appointment is more than a coaching change—it’s a strategic investment in the future of U.S. field hockey. With her championship pedigree, educational leadership, and passion for the game, she is uniquely positioned to elevate the U-21 program to new heights.

As the team prepares for its upcoming challenges, fans and players alike can look forward to a new era of excellence under Bradley’s guidance.
