At Longstreth, our mission has always been simple: to grow the game of field hockey and support every player with the right gear, the right resources, and the right community behind them. That’s why emails like the one below mean so much to us. Hearing directly from players about their journey — the struggles, the breakthroughs, and the moments when everything finally clicks — is exactly why we do what we do. With the athlete's permission, we’re honored to share this customer’s story and grateful to be a small part of her growth in the game.
Hello Longstreth,
I wanted to express my appreciation for your brand and dedication to field hockey as a sport. I started playing the summer before my freshman year of high school, and I grabbed the cheapest stick from Dick's to learn. It wasn't the right height and fit for me as a player, so I got crushed on the field, especially when skills like aerials and long passes would have come in handy.
As a defensive player, I struggled with drives. Every practice, when we lined up to do rapid fire, it was almost guaranteed that I would miss my first shot...and second...and third. I grew frustrated, practicing more and more. I saw no improvement. As the season ended, my coach recommended that I get a new stick that was the right fit and pointed me in the direction of Longstreth.
As a field hockey player, it felt like there was no place for me. Dick's was cluttered with beginner sticks and no support to find the right fit. Longstreth is the only large field hockey retailer in the US offering many amazing brands at a wide price range. I used the resources and descriptions to match myself up with a Grays GX6000 on sale, and BEGGED my parents until they got it. I promised them it was the only stick I would buy, and paid for a lot of it myself. This year, I improved my drives with the carbon stick that finally felt right. The coaches are still in disbelief!
I just wanted to thank Longstreth for being a safe space for the field hockey community. I am such a believer in the brand, and I wanted to express my appreciation and let you know the impact you make in the lives of players.
