10/9 - #11 (WMW) Bishop Watterson (OH) vs. OC (WMW) Columbus Academy (OH) (OT Tie, 2-2)
Bishop Watterson, ranked #11 in the West-Midwest Top 20, took on Columbus Academy, who is a Considered team in the WMW Rankings, in a heated matchup on October 9.
Watterson coach Janet Baird called it a “a fierce but respected rivalry” and stated that “many championship games have been decided by these 2 schools, either by one goal or in sudden victory OT”. Baird shared the stat that Columbus Academy had an edge over BW on offense, earning 13 corners as opposed to their 6, and doubling their shots on cage as well. It was 0-0 at half, further intensifying the second half where all 4 goals were scored!
Columbus Academy goals were scored by Bradyn Cassandra and Katie Vandyne, while BOTH Bishop Watterson goals came in the 4th quarter from Laine Cantwell – the tying goal with only 36 seconds on the clock!
Baird gave her defense and keeper (Bunce, 10 saves) major props for keeping BW in the game this time around, and also gave credit to Columbus Academy keeper, Lesh, who she called a “standout” in the game with 7 saves.
CA Coach Jacque DeMarco gave credit to each program, stating that “both teams never stopped fighting” and agreed with Baird that both keepers deserved a lot of credit in the game. She gave a shoutout to Cassandra as well, saying she handled the ball and the pressure from BW very well. Congratulations to both programs and their continued success this season!

This week brings two undefeated Massachusetts teams together; Phillips Academy Andover, ranked #24 in the nation and #1 in New England, and Middlesex School, ranked #7 in New England.

Molly Boyle, a senior forward for Phillips Academy, had an impressive 38 goals and 16 assists last year, and was named to the MAX FH New England Region 1st Team. Maren Boyle, a Junior Forward committed to Boston College, is a MAX FH Top 100 player and was named to the MAXFH 2nd Team All-Region last year. They also gained a transfer from Watertown High School, Regan Driscoll – a U16 National Team player.
Sophie Watson, a Senior back/mid from Middlesex, was also a MAX FH Watch List player, and made MAX FH 2nd Team All-Region last year.
