Assumption High School became the Kentucky State Champions on Monday, October 28, in a highly competitive match against Sacred Heart Academy.
Thanks to a corner shot from Riley Guy and an impressive deflection from Lauren Campisano, Assumption went up 2-0 at the half. Late in the third quarter, Sophie Rousseau, the State Championships MVP, tallied a penalty shot to extend the Rockets’ lead.
Sacred Heart made a run at the end of the game, courtesy of goals from Evie Hamm and Tatum Bohnert. They could not even score though, and the Assumption High School field hockey team came out victorious on the 3-2 scoreline after an incredibly impressive 20-6-3 season. In addition to Rousseau, Riley Guy and Monica Piccioli received All-Tournament Team Honors, with Tatum Bohnert, Anna Kosek, and Ella Clayton from Sacred Heart.
